Current world club champion, Corinthians showed that he is not only concerned with professional football, but also with the base categories. Timão launched a guidance material for young athletes – which includes pedagogical conduct, exercises and concepts related to the technical, tactical and physical needs of each age group. It is a kit consisting of a manual and a DVD, entitled "The Initial Kick Corinthians Training Methodology".
The material will be intended for the students of the football schools of the club, spread throughout Brazil. The intention is to make classes more fun and, at the same time, playful. There are 100 initial kick units, with approximately 18,000 students. Today, Timão even has a franchise in Fontana, California, United States.
– With the application of this system, besides using the sport to build the character of our students, we can contribute even more with those who have the talent to become professional players – said Fausto Bittar Filho, director of Earth Sports.
The quarterback Paulo André, author of the book "The Game of My Life", which deals precisely with the difficulties faced by football players from the beginning of their career to professional growth, "bled" the project aimed at the base categories of Corinthians. The defender emphasized the importance of orientation attentive to young athletes from the first steps in the sport.
– It is much more difficult to reveal athletes the old-fashioned way, with the decrease of the land fields, of street football. This methodology will help not only in sports practice, in training professional players, but also citizens. This puts the Corinthians ahead of a movement – it analyzed.
The manual was created by Prof. Dr. Luiz Roberto Rigolin da Silva, who coordinates the project. After consulting professionals from Corinthians football schools, to discover the main problems encountered in the classes, Rigolin developed the material in about a year. To motivate the boys, the club usually organizes visits to CT Joaquim Grava and the works of Arena Corinthians, a future Corinthian home, where, possibly, new talents can enter the field.
The biggest champion in the history of the Copa São Paulo de Juniores, the main competition of the base categories at the national level, with eight titles, the Corinthians has several names recently promoted from the base categories in its professional cast today: the goalkeeper Caíque, the defender Yago, the lateral Igor and the attackers Léo, Leandro and Paulo Victor are some of the examples taken by Tite.
