The 2026 World Cup begins in June and will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In the current season, Coringão has won a title, Supercupa do Brasil, on top of Flamengo, in February. In Paulistan, Corinthians fell in the semifinal for Novorizontino. The year still in progress has Timão fighting for the Brazilian title, Libertadores and the Brazilian Cup.
The memories are favorable to the People's Team: There are 23 titles in 22 editions of the tournament, not including 2026 and the Super Cup title of Brazil.
How were the Corinthians seasons in World Cup year?
1930 – Timão opens the first season with a Copa elevando caneco: champion Paulista (at the time the second three-time championship and the sixth state title of the decade). And after winning friendly against Vasco, the 1929 Carioca champion, received honorary title as Champion of Champions.
1934 – Corinthians was fourth in Paulista and was no champion this year. The season was marked by the arrival of striker Teleco, third highest scorer in Timão's history, with more than 250 goals in 10 years, owner of the best average goals per match, and who won 4 state goals.
1938 – Title season for the Almighty. Two undefeated champion of São Paulo on top of São Paulo, the giant alvinegro was still champion of state tournaments of lesser expression: the Tournament Beginning of the Paulista Championship, the Fasanello Trophy and the Henrique Mundel Cup.
1950 – Only fifth placed in Paulista, the Corinthians won this season their first regional title of great expression: the first edition of the Rio-São Paulo Tournament, and won after a draw with Botafogo, in a campaign with 20 goals scored in seven games played.
1954 – One of the best years of Copa, with the title of Paulista do IV Centenário, very desired at the time, on top of Palmeiras. In addition, the Coringão again won the Rio-São Paulo Tournament, after winning Palmeiras and taking the lead of Fluminense; he was still champion of the Charles Miller Cup.
1958 – Third place of Paulista and Rio-São Paulo, Timão won only minor tournament titles, the Charles Miller Cup and the Brasília Tournament. Year marked by the presence of goalkeeper Gilmar and the side Oreco in the Brazilian team that won the first Cup.
1962 – Third in Paulista and eliminated in the first phase of the Rio-São Paulo Tournament, the Corinthians season was saved by a smaller title: the first São Paulo Cup, elimination tournament involving teams from all SP divisions, won over Santos de Pelé.
1966 – Despite losing the final from Paulista to Palmeiras this year, Coringão, who had Garrincha on the team, won his third Rio-São Paulo tournament, in a title that was divided with Botafogo, Santos and Vasco for lack of dates. He was still champion of the Turin City Cup.
1970 – Eliminated in the first round of the Roberto Gomes Pedrosa Tournament and the final phase of Paulista, Corinthians did not win any titles in the season, for the first time in the Cup year. The great achievement was the presence of Ado, Zé Maria and Rivellino in the selection of the tri.
1974 – Title drought phase, another year without being a champion. The season was marked by the defeat in the final of Paulista for Palmeiras in direct chance by the state title that did not appear 17 years ago, which culminated in the tragic departure of the idol Rivellino for Fluminense.
1978 – After two Cups, Timão wins a title again in the world tournament season, with the conquest of the City of São Paulo Cup on top of Santos, but not far in Paulista and Brazilian. A year, however, marked by the arrival of two historical idols, Socrates and Biro-Biro.
1982 – Vinte e oito anos depois, o Corinthians voltava a vencer um Paulista em ano de Copa. Era o time da Democracia Corinthiana em ação, com Sócrates, Casagrande, Biro-Biro, Wladmir, Zenon e cia, campeões em cima do São Paulo. No Brasileiro, o Timão caiu na semifinal para o Grêmio.
1986 – Eliminado na semi do Paulista e quartas do Brasileiro, o Coringão conquistou duas taças menores na temporada. São elas o primeiro Torneio Internacional de Verão Cidade de Santos, em cima do time da casa, e a Copa dos Campeões, após derrotar o Independiente na Argentina.
1990 – Um dos anos de Copa mais inesquecíveis para o torcedor. Ano da conquista do primeiro Campeonato Brasileiro, com um time que não era favorito, liderado por Neto, e que bateu Atlético Mineiro e Bahia até ser campeão em cima do São Paulo com gol de Tupãzinho no Morumbi.
1994 – Temporada difícil para o Coringão, terceiro no Paulista e vice-campeão do Brasileiro após ser derrotado pelo Palmeiras. Na Copa do Brasil, caiu nas oitavas para o Grêmio, que foi campeão. O ano não passou em branco devido à conquista da Copa Bandeirantes, em cima do Santos.
1998 – Outro ano de Copa do Mundo inesquecível para a Fiel. Após perder a final do Paulista para o São Paulo, o Timão conquistava o segundo Campeonato Brasileiro, em cima do Cruzeiro. Marcelinho e Edílson foram os destaques da temporada e iniciavam uma nova era de títulos.
2002 – No ano do penta, o Timão foi campeão de mais um Rio-São Paulo, em cima do São Paulo. Pouco depois, o time treinado por Parreira venceu a segunda Copa do Brasil da história, passando por Cruzeiro, São Paulo e Braziliense. O Coringão ainda perdeu a final do Brasileiro para o Santos.
2006 – Temporada sem títulos para o Timão, que tinha equipe forte que acabava de vencer o quinto Brasileiro no ano anterior, tempos de Tévez e MSI. O ano ficou marcado pela saída das estrelas após eliminação para o River nas oitavas da Libertadores com invasão no Pacaembu.
2010 – O ano do centenário do clube não teve títulos. Eliminado na 1ª fase do Paulista e nas oitavas da Libertadores para o Flamengo, o Timão foi 3° no Brasileiro. Último ano de Ronaldo Fenômeno no Coringão e da chegada dos ídolos Ralf, Paulinho e Danilo ao alvinegro paulista.
2014 – Temporada da inauguração da Neo Química Arena em Itaquera, que também sediou a Copa. Após cair na 1ª fase do Paulista e nas quartas da Copa do Brasil, o Timão foi o 4° no Brasileiro. Ano da troca de Pato por Jadson e volta de Elias, cruciais no hexa do Brasileiro (2015).
2018 – Último ano de Copa do Mundo marcante para o corinthiano. O Todo Poderoso voltava a ser bicampeão do Paulista. E na casa do rival: o título veio no Allianz Parque, nos pênaltis contra o Palmeiras, com Cássio e Rodriguinho brilhando. Vice-campeão da Copa do Brasil contra o Cruzeiro.
2022 – Ano começa com queda na semifinal do Paulista para o São Paulo e tem o Flamengo como algoz, eliminando o Timão nas quartas da Libertadores e sendo campeão na final da Copa do Brasil, com o Coringão perdendo nos pênaltis. Primeira temporada de Yuri Alberto no time.
