January 14th is a special date for the Corinthians. On Monday, Timão celebrates 13 years of the first World Cup. The tournament held in Brazil was the first organized by Fifa and had the participation of eight teams divided into two groups of four teams.
In the first phase, Corinthians was the owner of the best campaign in his key and thus qualified for the tournament final. They were two victories (about Raja Casablanca and Al-Nassr) and a draw against the then almighty Real Madrid, Frenchman Nicolas Anelka and Iker Casillas.
In the decision, there was Vasco ahead. In the heart of Maracanã, Corinthians commanded by coach Osvaldo de Oliveira, today at Botafogo, held the home team and scored a draw for 0 to 0. In the penalty contest, the São Paulo team took the best and won the duel by 4 to 3, after Edmundo missed his bill. It was the beginning of the feast of Faithful, which celebrated its first world title.
