After making one more of his strong statements and threatening the Corinthians stadium to stay out of the 2014 World Cup, the General Secretary of Fifa, Jérôme Valcke, went back and ensured that the arena being built in Itaquera, East Zone of São Paulo, will be the stage of the World Cup's opening.

" We have confirmation that we won't have any problems with the Corinthians stadium. We are working very closely with the city, the government, Andrés Sanchez – former president of the Corinthians and responsible for the work –, Odebrecht – contractor that touches the project – and all parts and we are sure that the stadium will be ready by December 31, 2013 ", said Valcke on Monday, in São Paulo. "I am 100% sure that the stadium will be delivered and will host the opening of the Cup."
The leader was present at the City Hall to receive the title of São Paulo citizen on behalf of the president of Fifa, Joseph Blatter.
The hat had said last month that "They will have to accelerate. We can change everything until August 1st, when ticket sales begin. We still have a deadline to change whatever it takes. We clearly said that we cannot accept delay for the 2014 World Cup."
The statement was made during the time of uncertainty regarding the loan of R$ 400 million to be received by Odebrecht and BNDES Corinthians.
The loan, which corresponds to almost half of the budget of R$ 840 million of the stadium's work, has not yet been released by problems with the guarantee that must be presented to the broker bank, at the time the Bank of Brazil, which on account of these obstacles should be replaced by Caixa Econômica Federal, sponsor of the Corinthians.
According to Andrés Sanchez, who was also present at the City Hall on Monday, but did not meet Valcke, everything should be resolved soon. "We gave the Park São Jorge – club headquarters – as a guarantee to have the funding of the Caixa, which in the coming days must be confirmed."
Another obstacle that has not yet been resolved concerns the ICDs, Certificates of Development Incentive. The Corinthians haven't received any part of the Rs yet.$ 440 million in the form of tax incentives given by the city.
"The CID has been stalled to this day, I hope it will be resolved in the next few days," complained on Monday Sanchez.
According to representatives of the city of ESPN.com.br, because it is a recent initiative of the city of São Paulo, the issuance of ICDs has been monitored by various public and competent bodies and has no time to be delivered.

The Corinthians stadium is 79% completed, according to Odebrecht.
