Doctor, Doctor, Doctor. This Tuesday (20) marks another important day in the history of the Corinthians and longing for the Skinny. For ever in the memory of Faithful and Brazil for its ideals in and out of the field, Socrates made his debut for Timão exactly 35 years ago. One of the greatest idols in the history of Corinthians, leader of Corinthian Democracy and icon for his political motivations at a time permeated by the ghost of the Brazilian military dictatorship. Faith recalls 35 years later the first game of Brazilian Socrates Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira.
Born in Belém-PA, Magrão stood out from an early age because of his choice to study medicine and pursue a career in football. Coming from Botafogo de Ribeirão Preto-SP, he arrived at Timão in 1978. The Doctor's first match came soon in classic with Santos, on August 20 of that year, at Morumbi Stadium. And the show Socrates has always provided had a full house from the beginning: 111 103 people were present in the draw in 1 to 1 that marked his debut, in departure from Paulistan. In the second game of shirt 8, came out the first goal with Corinthians' shirt, against the Train-SP.
With the motto "Win or lose, but always with democracy", the movement led by Socrates in São Jorge Park brought to light the ideas of political openness, decentralization of power and modernization of club administration. Within the field, the results were also remarkable. In six years with Timão's shirt, the Golden Heel won Paulistão in 1979, 1982 and 1983, played 298 games and scored 172 goals.

Arrival at Corinthians
Skinny came to Corinthians' group pretty quiet, knowing it was his career chance. We realized his interest in getting close to the group, even to bring out the potential he had. Something interesting is that we played a lot of benefit games on vacation. And he was in on everyone with the cast. A year later, he was completely set up with us.
Relationship with the cast
We were first with a friend and companion, who was very intellectualized, a wise and intelligent guy in the way of acting. It was only a matter of time before he consolidated his stance.
Memories of the premiere
I don't have any memories of his first game, but I remember very well the initial matches of his career at the Corinthians. He tried to set up, moved around a lot, tried to guide his companions, showed leadership.
Learning
At first, although he was new to the cast, the impression we had was that he had lived with us for a long time. Living with him was a learning experience for everyone, for the attitude he had to worry about the group. I always say that the legacy that the Corinthian Democracy left was of the collective: any player who was considered the best in the field always attributed the victory to the group, and that started it was Socrates. He never took credit for a victory for his performance, always exalted the collective.
