Birthday girl in the defeat before the Corinthians, Saturday, for the Brazilian Championship, the defender Beto do Avaí, commented on the Arena Corinthians, more specifically about the site whose stadium was built.
Revealed at the alvinegra base, Beta trained in fields where today is the alvinegro stadium and remembered the occasions. In 2000, according to the defender, training was done there.
"I was speechless when I came in, very chilly. There are a lot of people here at the stadium who don't know what that was, I know very well. In the year 2000, more or less, we came to train in some scattered fields. And there was a hole, you can't scale where, but everybody said that one day it would be the stadium. We didn't believe, things didn't walk," he recalled.
Relegated to Series B in 2007 being the starting quarterback of Corinthians, Beto left the club heartily the way he would not like. It is worth noting that that same season, the defender was a hero in a classic against São Paulo when he scored head-on and ended the four-year fast without winning Morumbi's rival.
Excited in Itaquera, Beto classified as "fantastic" the feeling of stepping on Itaquera. "Arrive at the Corinthians Arena on my birthday and see the whole structure, how the club has grown, for me it's fantastic. I'm glad, regardless of being a rival today," he said.
