Improvised on the left-side in the 2–0 victory over Palmeiras, the Maycon steering wheel commented on the derby performance. After the confrontation, he counted the moments of apprehension before the match, but made himself available to coach Fábio Carille to continue acting there.
"I confess I was a little anxious, a little afraid, too. It's not a function I master very well. As much as I've played at the base of this position, it's not my original position, but the Corinthians, whatever you need from me, I'll help you in the best way," he said.
Despite making it clear that he prefers to act as a steering wheel, Maycon left his future on the team in the hands of the Alvinegro coach.
"My position is the middle, and if I can play in the middle, I'll play in the middle. But I leave it to Fábio [Carille], he decides, and I will play where he decides. The teacher talked to me, I had been training [on the side] for a while. Thank God, we left with victory," he concluded.
The Corinthians will play again next Wednesday, in front of the Millionarios-COL, in the premiere of Libertadores 2018. Maycon must remain the holder of the left-hand side.
