Twisters who represent and stand side by side with the club all the time, who invaded Santos, Rio de Janeiro and Japan to cheer for the alvinegro São Paulo.
Since its foundation in 1910, the Almighty has been closely accompanied by a faithful, passionate and differentiated crowd, so much so that it is envied and praised by other team fans and even players and technicians.
The Corinthians had the first uniformed fans in Brazil, making history in the 1930s. Eleven years later, a phrase that defines Timon was born. "Every team has a cheer. The Corinthians is a cheerleader who has a team", authored by journalist José Roberto Aquino.
The love for the club was growing, especially in times without titles, generating the nickname of Faithful, and culminating with the emergence of organized Corinthian fans, born in the 1970s, and who became a joint part of what is the Corinthians in the field since then, as the boss and even as a visitor.
Corinthians' first uniformed cheer
The first great movement in the history of the Corinthian crowd takes place in the 1930s.
Corinthians Torcida was born, which as Timão's website describes: "a pioneering and revolutionary movement to standardize fans and change the relationship between teams and stands forever".
One of the cheerleaders, Francisco Piciocchi, started organizing caravans for away games. One of the most striking is the so-called first Corinthian invasion in Santos for the 1930 Paulista Championship final, in which the Corinthians sought the tricampeonato.
The dispute took place in January 1931, and more than 15,000 Corinthians who went by train to Santos were in Vila Belmiro.
Within the field, Timon did not disappoint the Faithful: 5 to 2 and the conquest of the Tri. The return was a party on the train. According to Piacchi, some fans died after the return, with tuberculosis and other diseases.
In 1933, President Alfredo Schrig and his board of directors left office after a crisis in the club and what would be the first protest of a crowd in Brazil, which Corinthians describes as "an angry march".
It is in this context that Piciocchi innovates again in 1934, embroidering "Corinthians Twisted" on shirts, becoming Brazil's first uniformed cheerleader.
From there, the Corinthians Twisted started to present mosaics and take band to the stands. After the Corinthians won the Paulista in 1941, he remained nine years without being champion until the title of the 1950 Rio-São Paulo Tournament. In the period, however, the number of fans grew, who won the nickname Faithful.
The organized fans of the Corinthians are born
At the end of the 1960s the organized Corinthians fans began to be born, essential for the club's achievements and who would accompany it with much support in the bad and good situations from now on.
The largest of them, the Faithful Gaviões, today with 131 thousand associates, was founded in 1969 in Bom Retiro. It is the first organized crowd in Brazil to have an internal administrative structure and statutory rules.
São mais de 50 anos de apoio incondicional ao Timão e ela quem lidera as ações da torcida antes, durante e depois dos jogos. Fora de campo, a Gaviões desfila como escola de samba desde 1989, levando o Timão para o Carnaval – e já tem quatro títulos (1995, 1999, 2002 e 2003).
Em 1971, no Belenzinho, surgia a segunda torcida organizada do Corinthians, a Fiel Torcida Camisa Doze, que abraçou o slogan da torcida ser o décimo segundo jogador em campo e é a segunda maior organizada, também com mais de 50 anos de serviços prestados ao Todo Poderoso.
A segunda invasão
As duas torcidas lideraram a segunda invasão corinthiana, em 1976, no Rio de Janeiro, quando o Corinthians enfrentou o Fluminense de Rivellino, ex-Timão, pela semifinal do Brasileiro. Com um time modesto, mas aguerrido, o Timão eliminou a chamada Máquina Tricolor em pleno Maracanã, nos pênaltis.
O episódio foi marcado pela presença de 70 mil torcedores do Corinthians. A invasão no Rio de Janeiro é tida como uma das maiores demonstrações da paixão do torcedor corinthiano e fidelidade com o clube
A grande mobilização aconteceu depois que o então presidente do Fluminense, Francisco Horta, provocar a torcida corintiana ao dizer que ela não viria para o Rio.
Dois anos depois do fim da seca de 23 anos sem título com o Paulista de 1977, o que também só ajudou a aumentar o número de corinthianos no período sem erguer taças, nascia a terceira torcida organizada. Em Diadema, em 1979, foi fundada a Estopim da Fiel.
Dez anos depois, em 1989, outra organizada de Diadema, a Coringão Chopp. No ano seguinte, em 1990, nasceu a Pavilhão Nove, em Itaquera, feita em homenagem a time de futebol de corintianos no Carandiru. Três anos depois, em 1993, surge em Bauru a Fiel Macabra.
A terceira invasão
Em 2000, o bicampeão brasileiro Corinthians enfrentaria o Vasco da Gama no Maracanã pela final do primeiro Mundial de Clubes da FIFA. Mais de 30 mil torcedores do Timão estiveram presentes e comemoraram a conquista do título, no que é chamada da terceira invasão corintiana.
O Japão é nosso
A torcida do Corinthians sofreu em 2007 o primeiro e único rebaixamento, da Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro. Após o fim do jogo no Olímpico em Porto Alegre que marcou a queda, a torcida não deixou a arquibancada e entoou gritos de que nunca vai abandonar o clube em mais uma prova de amor ao Time do Povo.
A volta à elite do futebol veio de imediato com o título da Série B conquistado com antecedência em 2008.
Depois do sofrimento, o torcedor viveu bons momentos que iniciaram com a contratação de Ronaldo Fenômeno em 2009 e na conquista de títulos em sequência nos anos seguintes, culminando na inédita Libertadores de 2012. Após 12 anos, o Corinthians iria disputar novamente o Mundial, mas agora lá no Japão.
E quem disse que a Fiel não iria em peso? A quarta invasão corinthiana foi internacional. Torcedores venderam o que puderam para ver in loco o bi Mundial. Na saída, ainda em São Paulo, no Aeroporto, cerca de 15 mil torcedores fizeram festa para incentivar a equipe.
Na final contra o Chelsea, em Yokohama, cerca de 30 mil torcedores corinthianos estiveram presentes.
Estima-se que hoje a torcida do Corinthians conta com pelo menos 35 milhões de loucos pelo Brasil. É por essas e outras que não tem como encerrar de outro jeito. Obrigado, Fiel! E Vai Corinthians!
