Coach Ronald Koeman of the Dutch national team sent a message to the Corinthian attacker Memphis Depay in a recent interview with Dutch TV US.
Asked about the thigh injury that took Memphis off the lawns in the last Corinthians games, the coach proved hopeful in the full recovery of the titular attacker and greatest gunner in the history of Holland.
"The expectation is that he will return to the cast for the upcoming matches. Fortunately, they still have a calendar with games every three days. The last match is May 27, so there is still enough time, if everything goes well," Koeman said.
Next, the Dutch commander considered a second hypothesis: to take Memphis to the Cup even outside the ideal physical conditioning, placing the Corinthian attacker in the reserve bank in the first games of the world.
"I think it would be possible in his case. I also took him to the Eurocopa of 2024, and even though he wasn't 100% physically. It is possible that if you are not fully fit, you will be summoned and start at the reserve bank. That would also be a possibility," he added.
The Dutch national team will announce the final list for the World Cup in the second half of May as well as Brazil.
